Cool video showing the power of flash when compared to HTML5.

Some things are better suited for HTML5, and some better suited for Javascript — and the same holds true for flash.
If your looking to use a <video> , <nav>, <header> tag once HTML5 penetration is high enough then it is sensible, and if your doing simple image galleries, jQuery sliders, accordions or tool tips then javascript/CSS and maybe a combination of HTML5 is most likely the best suited solution for this. If your looking to do a creative treatment of an animated logo and display it over the web, or bounce a ball like the above video then flash is your best bet !!

XFL Flash Glossary

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

XFL file format has been around for some time now, but if your serious about flash website design or exchanging your flash files to work in XML format — and working between applications like InDesign or Dreamweaver. That’s right – this format can help translate into designing and developing/programming HTML5 file formats from Flash animation files. Or for translating After Effects files into flash, you should start at the link below…

Adobe speaks about Flash Design

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Build it once and deploy across multiple platforms and devices… this is FLASH! Developers want to be able to develop a web or mobile app one time and deploy it across many different devices. Just one of the extraordinary benefits of designing and developing in flash. Watch this video from WSJ with the Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen. “…it benefits publishers and it benefits consumers…” This is a very good video and make sure to watch the commentary video below the interview and the discussions, they are very insightful.

Adobe has some HTML5 design and animation tools

Friday, April 30th, 2010

This is a nice video where they use Flash to animate very simply on the time-line and export into Dreamweaver.
Then using Drewmweaver’s HTML5 canvas export to view the animation in a browser and running HTML5.

I was wondering if Adobe would be creating an HTML5 authoring tool, with a time-line to create animations for even simple digital flash-like banner ads — it looks like it’s rudimentary right now, but inclusive in CS5 and Dreamweaver.
